The ramen is AMAZING. One of my favorite spots. They always make the ramen really great and the food never disappoints.
The wait is not usually too bad when I've been, especially because you can put your name down on Yelp prior to arriving.
The reason why I'm giving four stars is because of the customer service. I'd give the food 5 stars. Customer service- I'd give them 2 stars. The servers don't really care for you. They just clearly hate their jobs and ignore you. I've had four different people take care of me and everytime they have been miserable. They all always forget to bring something too. And never apologize when they realize they forgot. -

Overall, the ramen has been good for years and it's been a favorite of mine. I live a quarter mile away and have been there dozens of times.
Recently, the ramen has become substantially less delicious - both broth and katsu. I'm not sure if their recipe has changed or if the way they make the food has changed. However, it has been substantial. It's now better to go to Kitakata, Santouka, or even Zetton.
The Yelp waitlist is also a farce. You technically aren't counted as 'in line" until you check in (so your wait time and prioritization don't kick in until you check in), and walk-ins get priority. So don't waste your time like I did. I noticed 3 parties getting seated in front of me, and it's because - even though I checked in - I was told that walk-ins get priority.
Wish this place was what it used to be. It's a bummer. -

This place is pretty good; not bad at all. When I got there, I realized this is an international chain store.
I ordered the black ramen, but felt I needed a kick or something. I wasn't given the option to add the spicy oil, which would have been nice. I did add a bit garlic to make up for it. I think all the additional things you can add to the ramen is a bit dirty because it's sitting in front of you at all times for everyone to use. You really won't know if someone spit in it. I ordered regular noodles but thought it was a bit too raw. I can see the white center, which to me indicates raw. I know other people like it, but I will get soft noodles next time.
Other than the line, another issue is the parking. It actually offer free valet parking within the small plaza. They know how bad the parking is when that happens. I don't like valet parking though, so I rather find a parking by myself.
Overall it's a pleasant and yummy experience. -

The tonkatsu broth is nothing short of amazing. I don't know if I will ever want to try anything else here now that I've had their tonkatsu.
Get the ramen, spurge on getting all the toppings, and skip on ordering sides. The chicken and rice bowls were ok, but not worth the money.
Wait wasn't too bad on a Sunday at noon, but be prepared to wait even if you join the yelp waitlist because it's never accurate. That being said, the Yelp waitlist is definitely a must before you head there.
Accepts card, has high chairs, friendly service. -

OUTSTANDING RAMEN!
I judge ramen primarily on the broth. Hakata's tonkatsu broth is EXTREMELY rich and flavorful. It's probably one of the best. The complex pork flavor makes the dish.
I appreciate the regional varieties of ramen noodles. These are very thin and dense. You have the option of how you want them cooked. Soft up to the Japanese version of al dente.
The toppings are fairly standard. Be careful in automatically selecting "everything." Check the menu and make sure you want the additional toppings over "premium toppings." I find "premium toppings" has everything I want and is $3.00 less than "everything."
They served my soda with an iced beer mug. Nice touch.
Definitely worth the trip.
TIP: The weekend and dinner line can be long. Make sure you check in with Yelp before you come.
